It takes almost an hour to get to the Library by bike, but that is nothing compared to the hour and a half it would apparently take by bus. Yume has been in Miami for a little over a year now, and by this point she's used to taking the bike over the bus in cases like this.
It's strange, however, that it's taken her this long to think of going to the Library as opposed to the resources she was using through her first year. Granted, she was working on a Double Major...
Still. Once Anthropology was done, it was on to History andddddd now that she was at the library...
"..." How was she going to get these books home.
Half of these books were not relevant to her subject, why did she grab them.
AHHHH, but Mayan myths were something she had yet to really read through, and it was interesting...~~ (They had a bat constellation, a bat..!)
How she is carrying all of these text books is a mystery, but eventually she's in a chair somewhere reading through each one. SHE CAN DO HER PAPER LATER-

Elinore loved working at the library. There were books and, really West Dade Regional was just gorgeous. She could have done without the teenagers visiting. Some of them seemed to have entirely wrong, one would almost go as far as to call it sacrilegious, ideas on what could and should be done in a library. Just because some of the aisles saw less than regular (read gathered dust for months before anyone remembered that they existed) use didn't mean they should be used for that.
That was one of the reasons Elinore occasionally went on patrol, just to catch people with horrible ideas who should be stopped for the sakes of books and libraries everywhere.
That was also why she was currently looking at a woman in a chair with a rather impressive stack of books and all she could think of was that she hoped the lady would put them all back because those were a lot. And she had a sneaking suspicion they weren't all from the same shelf either.
Elinore bit her bottom lip, took and antsy step forward, then back. Then forward again. She couldn't just speak to someone who was reading, could she? But, well, she was kind of interested in why all those books. And just... dilemma.
This would be so much easier if she were a rabbit. Then she was just foofy and hopped and people petted her. She liked being petted.

Simon had been deposited at the library, with a request from his mother that he not turn into a bat.
For other people this might be a bit nonsensical.
For someone who had contracted Versi and who's alternate form was a giant fruit bat it was very good advice.
So, hitching his shoulder bag higher, hugging Mr. Bear, he headed in.
He was actually here on a bit of a mission. He needed to find a number of law books, to assist his mother with...
Well...
That wasn't something he was supposed to talk about, now was it?
He wish he'd thought to bring Machiavelli with him. She could have picked out some new books.
His attention was caught, first by a number of teenagers who he rather wanted to throw something at, and then by...
That was a lot of books.
...Some of which it looked like he needed. After all, he wasn't just after law books...
He debated for a moment, and then turned the 'innocence' dial up to 11.
Mr. Bear could occasionally provide more uses then merely protecting him from horrible things...
"Hello Miss. I'm Simon. Do you think I could borrow some of your books?"
Oh. Wait. Other person. ...Who was... Right.
"Oh, I'm sorry... Do you work here?"

"Mm?" She turned, looking to the boy. Briefly, her mind flew to a number of different happy places all at once. Ahhhh, a bear~ (so cute-)
She quickly snapped herself out of that by paying attention to the question though. Also the fact that someone else was apparently watching her. (And really, this was no time to admire the cute that was someone else's bear.) "Ah-" A brief look up to Elinore. "...Eh..." Simon asked his question first Yume, go go go!
Turning back to Simon then, she nods toward the books. "Depending on which ones they are, that is fine... I'm working on a paper, so I need to be able to at least get the information I need from them first... But if you need them, then I see no problem otherwise."
AND back to Elinore again- "...Ah... Is there something I can help you with..?" ...Yume that's her job not yours.

Elinore looked from the woman to the man or boy or, well, the bear was throwing her off of her game a little, okay? Not that she could really cast stones, considering Mrs. Fluffles seated on her bed. But the fluffy little dog was at home, guarding her bed rather than being carried around by her.
Then again, instead of that, she had a ridiculously well stocked emergency kit. Well, to each their own, then.
"Ah, yes. I work here. I was just coming to ask if there was anything you needed. And just doing a general inspection but, uhm, well, does either one of you need help with something? Finding books?" Though the lady doesn't look like she needs help with that, which leaves the kid with the bear and who smells like shifter.
Can he tell she's one too?
She's been lucky, so far, that they're pretty forgiving at the library when she accidentally shifts. She always seems to do it when she has to sneeze, like the bit of control slips up at exactly that moment and then there is a fluffy rabbit seated amidst her clothes. Not the most useful thing in the library. Luckily, they haven't fired her yet.

Alright, eyes open wider, bite the bottom lip just a bit and noticably hug Mr. Bear tighter.
His mother had done a rather good job teaching him after all.
"Oh, thank you Miss! I wanted to put something together for my Mommy and she loves things like that..."
He turned to the other woman. ...Shifter. Mammal, but beyond that he couldn't guess.
He wondered why she hadn't masked her scent.
"Oh, you work here? Do you think you could find me where the law books are? My daddy told me but I forgot and he wanted me to check some of them out for him."
Alright, a whole pack of lies right there, but he was a very, very good liar.
"And do you... maybe have some books on rats? My baby sister loves them."
...If by baby sister you meant the little girl who turned into a rat who his mother had 'adopted' and renamed and who was generally cosseted and frequently carried around in hoods and pockets and handbags then yes.
...And she mostly liked them because she was one.
"Or unicorns maybe?"

"Aah... I do not have any books in law here at the moment, though there is one in here that would serve a good reference for unicorns..."
With perhaps a little more ease than one new to the library should have, she quickly and carefully pulled one out from her pile. "I grabbed this one for when I was finished with the others, but in hindsight that was likely quite rude of me... Saa, here you go. Unicorns were quite vicious beings in their original tales... It was thought that they even ate humans, so they would be fed things such as bears to satiate their hunger. In a sense, they've undergone a change as drastic as the myths concerning fae in that regard, though it would seem that the latter is at least getting a revival..."
A slightly nervous cough, and she changes the subject. "Is there anything else in particular you need? Most of the books I have in this pile concern specific strains of myth..." ...Yume aren't you an anthropology student.
Yume why are there so many books on mythology in that pile, for shame... Focus on your paper like a good student.

Elinore blinked, looking at the girl and then at the boy and, well, okay then. This was... this was just weird and that was including Black Helicopters and Government Camps Bobby, who always came in that day of the week to ask for, well, files and books on government camps and black helicopters.
This girl sounded like she swallowed several documentaries on unicorns and was trying to do Elinore's job for her. And hadn't acknowledged her at all. That was a little rude. Sure, she was an employee, but she had asked the both of them a question, even if the lady was well stocked when it came to books.
She turned her attention to Simon and smiled at him. "If you want, I can take you to the section with the law books and I can find you a few very nice books about rats. We just got one in written by a rat shifter. At least, the cover and publisher say that he's a rat shifter."
Elinore shifted from one foot to the other and tucked an imaginary strand of hair behind her ear. If she got any more uncomfortable, these two would have a fluffy rabbit on their hands.
This was weird.
Maybe she should go and check with security.
