MIMIR'S HAUNT
_______Mimir's Haunt, usually known as just "The Haunt" to quite a few of it's regular patrons, is a small bookshop that doubles as a cafe. It's a two-level shop, with most of the seating downstairs in the form of tables and chairs near the front, and more comfortable couches near the back. The counter is tucked away in the front and on the left, with a store-room behind it. The air inside the building is cool and particularly dry, especially upstairs where the majority of the books are stored. There are several power outlets on both levels, and the whole building is outfitted with a strong, easily accessed wifi signal, with a secondary set aside and secured for employees and the owner. Said owner knows his audience, quite obviously.
_______Decor-wise, the shop fits Miami's temperature. Warm, rich browns and the odd dark reds and blues take care of most of the upholstery and paint, and the lighting is soft instead of overly bright, for fear it'd fade some of the older tomes. Oddly, most of the metal fixtures that could be silver are instead brass or at the very least, brushed steel. Scattered around the space are several small oddities that Basil's collected over the years. An old astrolabe sits in a case on the front desk, there's a floor globe resting upstairs in a far corner, a few paintings here and there that deal with Norse mythology and theology, posters from a few major museum exhibits, and the odd landscape photo make the walls seem a little less bare. The whole store is kept as immaculately clean as it's small staff can manage, and it's often a regular sight to see the owner himself hovering about and tidying up. (The bloke spends 75% of his time there, if the doors are open, you'll no doubt run into him.)
_______The cafe portion of the shop usually serves pretty much what any other cafe it size services. It's not incredibly extensive, and the menu is missing a few of the more specialized items, but if you ask for it and they don't have it, come back in a day or two and they will. On the downside, the Haunt isn't quite equipped or staffed well enough to produce it's own baked goods, but it has a partnership with a small, fairly unknown local bakery that gets a solid cut of the profits. And yes, you can order a cuppa and read a book on a couch, so long as you're careful. And so long as it's one of the newer or more common books. There are a few dusty old tomes that Basil actively forbids to be read when you've ordered something to eat or drink. They're usually on a pair of shelves by themselves upstairs, with a label pointing out that you can't eat or drink while reading them.
_______Mimir's Haunt is currently hiring! Drop Baz a PM explaining your pup's skills, and he can probably find a place for them, no matter what the species.
