Name: Harper Braun
Nicknames: None.
Date of birth/age: 2 June, 1991 (Twenty)
Gender: Female.
Sexuality: Demisexual Panromantic.
Job: College student studying film/video production and sound, working part-time at an video rental store.
Degrees/Permits: High school diploma, working on college degree.
Languages Spoken: English.
Human or shifter: Human.
Appearance:
PB: Julia Stiles
At an average height of 5'5" tall, Harper is definitely chubby with soft curves, weighing in at about 160 lbs. She's mostly comfortable with her weight despite knowing she could manage to lose a few pounds. She has short wavy dark-blonde hair that she keeps at or above her shoulders, usually cut around her jawline. Said hair is frequently covered up by hats or tied bandanas/wraps. She has deep hazel eyes and wears a pair of thin glasses for her nearsightedness. She is fair-skinned and in the summer gets a decent tan from being outside quite often. Her most noted feature is the dimples she gets when she smiles -- and she's smiling most of the time. Other than her ears being pierced, she has no other piercings or tattooes.
Harper's usual wardrobe is somewhat plain, usually wearing simple blouses and jeans, long skirts, tunic shirts and almost always flats or sandals. She likes earth tones and pastel colors, nothing too loud in print or pattern. Functionality over fashion is her mantra, whatever feels most comfortable. Harper otherwise doesn't have much of a fashion sense nor does she accessorize much, though she at least knows how to dress her body type.
Personality: There is a prominent warmth that seems to follow Harper. She is a very outgoing type with a thirst for seeing new sights and, with some coaxing, trying new things as well. She is innately positive and tries very hard not to let extraneous things pull her down. Her peppy nature is known to be somewhat infectious and because of this she likes to meet new people, socialize, and laugh. Harper is also extremely curious and an inability to stop asking 'why'. Some may find her at times a bit overbearing or annoying for this reason but she means well; Harper just loves to live life, and she takes pleasure in the little things. She is honestly a very simple person who doesn't need much to smile and she cherishes every day as something special. Her quirky, upbeat nature is what keeps her going and going... and going... she has a lot of energy!
Whereas she may not be the most book-smart, Harper tries hard, and is modest and humble with her gains. She is proud of her accomplishments but knows she has room to grow. Any problem that Harper comes across she sees as a challenge to overcome and does her best. Very accepting, she forgives mistakes with ease and negativity tends to confuse and upset her. Harper never wants to hurt others, a total pacifist, though she's not the best at words, better at actions. She'll be faster to give a hug than know what to say. Open-minded and patient, she enjoys all people and loves to watch and study them; she finds them the most interesting, and puts a lot of emphasis on memories. Capturing moments in her life reminds her of her place in the bigger picture, and gives her a true sense of self. She almost craves being around others, and feels empty when alone.
When not with a camera or camcorder attached to her hand filming her next project, Harper is watching movies (her DVD collection is her baby), playing video games, out at art-related shows, riding her bike (she doesn't drive!), or just going out with friends. Harper has one pet, a guinea-pig named Paprika, and she lives in an apartment near campus with her roomie and best friend, Marina Leone. Harper doesn't indulge in any vices and is a vegetarian, though her one major weakness is sweets.
Strengths:
+ Knowledge. Probably the best person you want on a game of Jeopardy, Harper knows a lot of really weird and random factoids. She also can quote from a plethora of films, known to be a pretty good film buff.
+ Tech Skills. Harper is good with cameras (still, digital, you name it) and she's learning various sound-related technology (mixing boards, recording tools, etc). She also knows her way around computer programs and is studying more about video and sound editing.
+ Friendly. She has quite a few friends/acquaintances; honest, sweet, and talkative to a fault, she holds her friends in high regard, like family to her.
+ Innovative. The girl is bursting with ideas and thinks out of the box. She also works well with her hands (and tinkers with stuff if given to her) and is good at problem-solving.
Weaknesses:
- Naive. Harper may be kind and sweet but she isn't very worldly or aware of danger most of the time. Her curiosity has gotten her into quite a few situations that she's needed to be rescued from.
- Diet. By all means do not let her cook or bake, she will most likely burn something or poison someone somehow. The girl burns water, and her eating habits aren't the best.
- Stress. As positive as Harper is, she really has no idea how to handle stress. When things get particularly overwhelming and she simply cannot handle it, she is known to completely break down all at once. She also gets headaches when she's anxious or upset.
- Altruistic. She focuses on other people more than she does herself, and has been taken advantage of in the past for this. Other people's happiness is sometimes more important than her own, and she can forget her own needs.
- Phobias. Harper fears being alone, and has some fear of the dark (in fact, she sleeps with a small nightlight on).
History: One might call Harper's life a bit on the average or boring side. She really has nothing to note that was ever entirely bad in her life, and she was in fact fairly sheltered growing up. Harper doesn't know her real parents, having been adopted by a couple that couldn't have their own children when she was three months old; she considers them her true parents and has no desire to know her birth parents. Because of her adoption her parents doted on her, and Harper can say that she was easily spoiled, more with attention than material possessions. Her mother and father supported her in every endeavor and tried hard to make her have a happy upbringing. The support and love made Harper into the equally sweet and caring person she grew to be. She has one younger brother, also adopted when she was seven years old, and she constantly tries to spend time with him, as they're very close.
Harper was known to be shy and somewhat of a sensitive crybaby as a younger kid through elementary school, and has always been chubby, all of which garnered her teasing for years. Her family moved from their home in Wisconsin all the way down to Florida for her father's work when she was eleven, a move which thrust Harperinto an all-new experience and a fresh start. Harper opened up more as she found her niche, slowly blossoming into her more extroverted personality as her confidence grew. Journalism, media, and video was Harper's calling and helped fuel her bubbly personality and stuck with the school newspaper and media club until graduation.
Harper decided this was what she wanted to do with her life and quickly enrolled in a film and video program in college, minoring in sound design. She dreams to see the world and make films and documentaries from her experiences. She occasionally dabbles in some more artistic work, but she keeps that strictly personal. For now, she works part-time to help fuel her hobbies and lives a typical college-student life, monetarily supported by her parents for now (and student loans... hooray!).
Harper is one of the most positive supports of shifters, and is so entirely fascinated with them that she loves to talk (and question) them. She's not really afraid of them at all, considering her roommate and best friend, Marina, is one and she fully accepts them for who they are. She remembers when the virus hit and was lucky that no one in her family was infected, but instead of seeing those affected as a bad thing, she sees it as a really neat gift. Harper frequently helps Marina with her shifter-issues and in turn Marina keeps her very grounded (and bails her out of trouble). They're complete and total opposites in almost every way but somehow they get along very well, and are quite a duo.
