Payday.
Those were heavenly words, and Melisande had never thought she would be happier to hear them than she currently was. Rent was creeping up, and Melisande was almost tempted to post a ad for a roommate. But she would worry about that later. Today, it was time to spoil her boys!
She had seen the little boutique several times, and she was glad to finally be able to go in. It was cute, exactly what she expected from a boutique, of course. Pet foods lined one shelving unit, and she paused to look at them. Though they were for cats and dogs, she was always curious to what people fed them. Meli, personally wasn't much of a cat or dog person.
It was the bright colors that clued her in to the rodent section. She always wondered why the toys were always so bright. Still, she wouldn't argue. They did look nice. Stopping, she picked through the toys a bit. There were several she liked, but she had to find something else first. After looking over it, she didn't see what she wanted and frowned a bit. Was she missing it?
Meli quickly decided to ask, rather than to dig around and make a mess. Walking to the counter, she waited for a moment, trying to think of how to phrase her request.
“Ah, Miss.” She paused a bit, hoping she had used the proper title.
“I was wondering do you have any beds for rodents? I am looking for a specific one. It connects to the roof, or shelf and is like a...” Again Melisande paused. Though she spoke English well, there were still words that caught her up often. This one danced on the tip of her tongue, mocking her. Finally it clicked.
“Ah, it looks like a Hammock.” Melisande was proud of herself. 'Hammock' wasn't exactly a word often used in conversation.
