Name: Willow Mae Roth
Nicknames: MaeMae
Date of birth/age: Jan. 18th 1995; 17 Years of Age
Gender: Female
Sexuality: Homosexual
Job: Pizza Delivery Girl; Student
Degrees/Permits: None yet.
Languages Spoken: English, and very basic Spanish.
Human or shifter: Shifter
Appearance:
[PB: Amelia Dolore]
Willow manages to look threatening even when relaxing. It's something about the cold, detached expression she often has, or that intense look of disapproval in her dark eyes. Or maybe it's the fact that she's often dressed in boots made for stomping. Either way, she enjoys scaring people.
She's not too tall, coming in somewhere around 5'4”, making her around average, actually, she's pretty average in general. She's not overly thin, or overly chubby. She just sits somewhere in the middle. Which is good enough for her. She liked to be noticed for her attire, rather than her body. Attire that often consists of fishnet, leather, black and buckles. Sometimes spikes. Sometimes skulls. She's going through a very 'Gothic' phase for the moment, and she tends to dress most outlandishly for school. Weekends and work though? It's work jeans, big boots, and some overly washed t-shirt with some band you've probably never heard of on it.
Willow also loves her make up. Not just limited to black, she will wear pretty much anything garish as well. Bright red eyeshadow seems to be her favorite. Oh, and she's got a love for those strange contacts. Despite her eyes being a dark brown, she loves to wear white outs, or contacts that make her eyes all black. Anything to freak people out.
After contracting Versi, Willow gained some strange additions. The webbing between her fingers is a bit more prominent. She also has some black spots on her belly that don't seem to fade after shifting. They range between 5 and 1 inches in diameter and range from her collar bone down to her hip bones
Personality:
Although open and caring, Willow's parents hope this is just a phase. The girl is extreme, and she likes to let you know that. She doesn't like to do anything simply. She delivers pizzas 'extremely', she brushes her teeth 'extremely', in fact, she's mostly deluding herself. But she does manage to get herself in trouble often. Like the time she was stuck in a tree after being chased by a alligator. She drives fast and really isn't to cautious, so of course some of the doctors at the ER know her by name.
Sarcasm and snark are her main defenses, reactions and responses. Besides them, she likes to pretend she's emotionless. She does pretty well too, always a good actor she manages to convince even herself. Too bad it's not true. Inside she's all sorts of emotional. Still, she manages to push them away, bottled them up and hide them until it comes to her breaking point. High emotion and stress often cause her to shift. So one moment she could be taking a huge test, and the next she's a newt looking for water.
Deep down, beneath those layers of callous snarking, sarcastic belittlement and ice queen in training, is glimmers of the little girl Willow was before she hit puberty like a bull. She still loves the environment, n fact she loves it to a scary degree. Recycling? Of course! Driving a car? Only when she can't walk or bike. Protecting animals and their habitats? Of course. She learned it all from her parents. Except where they are peaceful, gentle types, Willow is the kind to dismantle the opposition from the bottom up. Where polite talks would do, she uses dynamite. She's very dedicated to the cause to, volunteering between work and swim meets and practice.
As you may have guessed, Willow loves the outdoors. It's rare for her to be inside. She's usually doing something. In fact, the young woman can't hold still. She's always moving. Tapping her fingers during school, rocking back in forth in her chair, and dancing as she drives. It's like holding still is physically painful for her. Due to this, she doesn't understand lazy people. Why lay around when you can be doing? You could save the world, one inch at a time instead of sitting about!
Despite all the bad, Willow does have good traits. She's a very dedicated person. One way to anger her quickly, besides harming the environment? Cheating. She can't stand cheaters. No matter the excuse. She feels to cheat is to be a coward, really how hard is it to just inform someone you don't love them any more? She's extremely loyal to friends, family, causes and of course, partners.
She's also very hard working. You wouldn't think it, looking at her homework, but she really is. Willow is one of those people who is intelligent, but doesn't fully utilizes it. She'd rather shirk off school responsibilities to work on other things. Still she does well enough on tests, and works on enough homework to maintain a B- in every class.
One day, Willow wants to be known for something. She isn't sure what. But she wants to do big things. She just has to decide. Which for Willow, is like asking her to catch the stars. She's highly indecisive. Even for simple decisions like what to eat for dinner. She doesn't like pressure being put on her when it comes to decisions either. Push her too hard and she's liable to snap at you.
Strengths:
- Loyal: She's sort of like a dog in this sense. She's dedicated to you, your causes, your likes and everything you do. She won't forget your birthday, and she'll think up the best gift she can, because Willow dedicates herself to knowing people she is close to.
- Hard working: Need some help? Call Willow. She doesn't half-ass most things. Unless, that is, you want school work done.
- Modest: Willow isn't going to brag. Don't worry. She knows she is amazing enough with out having to inform people of it.
- Fast Swimmer: Water? Yea. That stuff rocks, just watch her cut through it like a hot knife through butter!
Weaknesses:
- Judgmental: Scared yet? Willow will pick you apart like a pizza and she'll make a decision based on that. Willow believes first impressions mean a lot.
- Environmentalist: Yep. She'll do anything for nature, if you have a good enough reason. But you'll probably regret roping her in. She's not exactly the poster child for friendly talks.
- Aggressive: Hooo boy is she an angry person. While she may shift into a cute little newt, she has all the attitude of an angry boar.
- Bottles emotions: You really don't want to be there when they unleash. Unless, of course you are willing to offer advice, listen to problems, and potentially have her newt-out on you.
History:
With her attitude, you would think Willow grew up with little parental attention. That's not the case. Born in January 18th, 1995 to Jonathan and Elise Roth, Willow was pretty much adored from the moment she blinked her big dark eyes. She was also taught to respect the environment from that point. Fed locally grown, organic foods, swaddled in organic blankets, taken to rallies, flowers braided in her hair. She was surrounded by nature, love and peace.
Jonathan loved his daughter, and took her out when ever he went into the wild. You see, he was a Research Technician of the Environmental sort. He would always tell her stories about the mountain lions he saw, or the Ozark Hellbender's they were trying to find. Life was good in Jasper, Arkansas for a while.
In 2000, the Roth family moved to Miami as Jonathan had got a job with the Long Term Research of the Everglades. This was where Willow really grew. She was often out with her father in the everglades when ever he wasn't working. She loved being out amongst the swamps, trees and animals. The Everglades truly fascinated her.
In fact, when she was 10 years old, she had wandered off alone and ticked off a mother crocodile. It was only then that she was super thankful she knew alligators couldn't turn well, and that they couldn't scramble up a tree faster then she did. It took an hour for the alligator to wander off, and two more for her father to find her and coax her down from the tree. That was when Willow found out she had a talent for angering people.
2007 was a fun year. Versi spread through like a wildfire, and both Jonathan and Willow caught it, while Elise was perfectly fine. Everything seemed to be ok, though Willow had a worse case. It wasn't until later that the family found out that Willow was the only one with leftover effects. The first time she shifted into a newt, her parents panicked.
Her parents, though it took a few weeks, accepted that there was nothing they could do, and in fact were happy when they heard Willow wasn't the only one. Though it didn't have much to do with each other, or maybe in some odd way it did, this was when Willow started to rebel. It started first with refusing to go out with her father any more. Then it was dark clothing, anger, and arguing. Jonathan and Elise knew one thing for certain. Their little girl was a Teenager now.
After getting kicked out of one school for releasing the Science department's frogs loose in the Teacher's Lounge, Willow transferred to Saint Isidore Senior High where she currently causes her own special brand of trouble while underachieving the best she can.

Species: Japanese Fire Belly Newt
Group: Amphibian
Conservation status: Least Concerned
Appearance:
Abilities:
For the most part, she lives as a normal person. She has found that not only can she swim faster, the webbing between her fingers being a bit more prominent, but she can hold her breath for longer and has an advanced healing boost if she shifts before the wound heals. Since Newts can regenerate lost limbs, eyes, hearts, spinal chords and the like, if Willow is harmed while in Newt form and stays in it for long enough, she can regenerate that damage. She does need to get in water almost daily though. She has found that since contracting Versi, her skin dries out rather quickly.
