Name: Edgar Albert Christopher
Nicknames: Aggie
Date of birth/age: November 11, 1974. 38 years of age.
Gender: Male.
Sexuality: Asexual Panromantic
Job: Journalist (News Anchor, local station)
Degrees/Permits: B.A. in Radio/TV/Film (Minor in Journalism), learning how to fight with a quarterstaff (two classes a week, two years' experience.)
Languages Spoken: English, French
Human or shifter: Shifter
Appearance:
Played-By: Tom Hiddleston (With a vocal cord tweak, Aggie's voice is a bit lower)
Edgar is... pretty darn thin-looking. Reaching a height of 6'2" on a good day doesn't quite help with that look, but he's by no means unhealthy. He's absolutely meticulous about maintaining his appearance and health, to the point of some people calling him a tiny bit obsessed.
His hair's curly, naturally ginger, and most of the time he keeps it fairly short and fairly dark. Honestly, he thinks he's better suited for brown hair. To the point where you'd only really know his natural colour by looking at his driver's license. Edgar's eyes are a somewhat bright green. He's fair to the point of sunburning a bit easier than your average citizen of Miami, and only tans very lightly, if at all. He's got a (currently healing) scar from a shark bite on his right forearm.
Wardrobe wise... suits and business wear. When the occasion calls for it or if it's a situation where wearing a suit would be either unadvisable or awkward, he'll dress casually. The business part of his wardrobe is well-cut, and doesn't feature any colours lighter than a slate grey. Casual-wear on the other hand is exactly the opposite. Light colours reflect heat.
Personality: The most prominent part of Edgar's personality is his curiosity. It's gotten him into trouble more than anything else has, but absolutely nothing can kill it. He questions everything and everyone in an almost charmingly naïve way, and doesn't quite get why it annoys some people. He believes everything is there for a reason, that everyone has an interesting story to share, and that his purpose in life is to find out as much as he can about whatever- and whoever- catches his eye. He also doesn't quite get why personal space is such an issue to some people either. Everyone breathes the same air, don't they? He's not quite naïve himself, though. You've got to be book smart and street smart if you're going to make it anywhere in the news buisness. He's also learned that an innocent, wide-eyed smile can unlock several doors that a stern, professional gaze can't. Doesn't mean he can't snark and be a bit of a bastard every once in a while, though.
He has a strange little almost-tick when it comes to organization, which spreads into decorating. Everything has to be lined up perfectly. He tends to keep everything to a stark, modern, black and white minimum due to how absolutely clean it looks when done right. This preference also carries through to his wardrobe. Edgar's quite the pop-culture addict as well, and will usually get a wide variety of references. He doesn't often delve into the complexities of them unless they especially catch his eye.
On top of all of that, he's incredibly predatory. Edgar has... pretty much become his beast in a sense, never really wearing anything less than a smirk and often grinning at incredibly inappropriate and often unsettling times (oddly enough though, almost never in photographs). That combined with his blatant disregard for personal space and habit of circling people he's talking to when he's feeling restless kind of makes for a rather interesting conversation.
Strengths:
- He's athletic. Even before the change, he was quite adept at running and swimming. He can't do them as well as some shifters now, but he's pretty good human-wise.
- Resilient. He might not look it, but he can be a very decent workhorse if things come down to it.
- Flexible. He takes yoga classes once a week.
- Very charming when he puts his mind to it. Can also fake being a morning person, but only once or twice a week before it gets too annoying.
- The two strengths his beast passed on to him. See below in the 'abilities' section for more info.
- He can partial shift.
Weaknesses:
- Emotional distress is something he's not very good at dealing with, and if people get into an argument around him he'll always either try to leave the room or change the subject.
- Is a natural disaster in the kitchen.
- He's amiable, sure, but he doesn't really seem to be fond of committing to something like a lasting friendship. Unless someone can catch his interest for quite a while.
- Completely terrified of pitch-black darkness. He will not move unless there's a light source around.
- Underneath it all, he's incredibly vain. One of the reasons why he became a model. It strokes his ego like it was a Bond villain's pet cat.
- He's becoming more beast than man. Albeit it's very, very slowly.
History: Born in Oxford, England to an artist and an accountant who enjoyed playing the stock market, Edgar quickly got used to the world of boarding schools and summer trips to the tropics. He had a few friends among the boys in his house, but he normally kept to himself. His parents never really kept pets other than fish, due to his father's allergies. At eight, he had his first and only pen-pal, a young French lass named Bridget. Around the age of ten he picked up a guitar for the first time, got lessons since everyone else in his class were starting to learn how to play instruments at the time, and he's been playing ever since. When he was old enough to join the swim team, he did just that and happily remained part of it for quite some time.
When he was old enough to go to university, he decided to do something a bit different than his other peers. He decided to move to the United States. He argued with his parents for two years until he finally signed the paperwork and caught the first plane to New York City. Twenty-three years old and on his own without a career or a degree in New York City, he bounced from job to job until he found one that fit him. Once he had enough funds built up and a scholarship or two to use he started studying journalism at NYU, specifically communications and broadcasting.
Early on in his second year, his father passed away due to a heart attack, and he started questioning himself in ways that he never thought he'd have to before. He started to experiment, since wasn't that university was for? All the while, he did his best to maintain a level of professionalism. It worked for him, mostly. Late nights, drinking binges, and trying to figure out just why he wasn't all that interested in sex took quite a bit of a toll on him. It took him months to detox, but in the end, he managed to scrape by, get his life back together, and graduate.
Once he did graduate, he took a few minor jobs in the industry, slowly working his way up to where he is now. He moved where work was plentiful, living in Boston, Chicago, Seattle, anywhere that really provided an opportunity. Until 2007. He was living in Miami at the time, and was among the first wave of people to catch the Febris Versipellis virus in the area. He'd just managed to nab a minor reporting job at a large local news station, too. He survived. Barely, it felt like. Whether it was the climate or location (he always attributes his beast to either or, even if he is drastically wrong), he became a crocodile. A twelve foot long Nile Crocodile in fact.
That's when he finally decided to stay put. Two years later, Bridget, still his close friend, asked him for a favour. He was happy to help, really. He was a surrogate father for Bridget and her partner Marie. No big deal, just a small favour. Fast forward three more years and he's one of the station's lead anchors, and due to his specific talents, often first to be sent out if they need someone on location to cover a major storm. He doesn't mind that at all, really. He thinks it's fun.
✓►SHIFTER◄
Species: Nile Crocodile (Crocodylus niloticus)
Group: Reptiles
Conservation status: Least Threatened
Appearance:
Abilities: Most of Edgar's abilities have only been enhanced by a small amount. He can only run, jump, and move a fraction of a bit faster than he could before. His senses are much the same, with his hearing increasing by the highest amount out of the others. Which isn't all that much, really. The main two things that have noticeably changed are his strength, stamina, and healing abilities which have manifested in two very specific categories. Edgar's ability to hold his breath increased from just about average, to that matching a veteran free-diver. Without moving all too much, he can probably last up to ten minutes underwater without needing oxygen. This is a combination of his stamina and his strength. His skin's also mutated, becoming a bit harder to bruise and cut. It feels and looks just about the same on the surface, though. That's a combination of strength and fast healing.
He has also just about mastered partial shifting. He usually uses this ability to increase his physical strength and speed, swap his teeth out for a sharper and more menacing set, or to be able to see underwater easier with a nictitating membrane. Or. Y'know. Just freak people out, because he's a jerk sometimes.
