Rowan views gender as a sort of... unnecessary optional extra. When anee wants to look like a guy, anee makes an effort to look like one. When anee wants to look like a woman, anee makes the effort to look like one. But on average? Anee works to be as androgynous as possible. Rowan views it as a good day when anee can make people wonder what pronouns to use. And then anee is happy to supply them with one. That said, there are some constants. Rowan is thin, with subtle muscles and slim hands with long fingers. Black hair, kept relatively short and generally slicked back, with large dark eyes, which have come to look a bit... odd since Rowan contracted Versi. Most people don’t expect to see a civet’s eyes looking out from a human face. And given half an hour in the bathroom with the right supplies and Rowan can come out looking any gender you’d like ani to be. (But really, anee’s just happy if you let ani make those decisions.)
Personality: Rowan is generally calm, cool and collected. Anee is very competent and often gives off the impression that anee's in charge of the world. But underneath the hyper competent and professional exterior there's a bright sense of humor, a love of trolling and a warm heart. Being around someone anee's genuinely attracted to, Rowan tends to get more then slightly awkward and shy. And at anis core, there is a dichotomy. An utter faith in aniself and a pervassive insecurity, thanks to a culture which is at best, largely confused by aniz very existance and at worst is openly hostile to someone who views gender as a sort of... optional extra to be put on and removed like a coat.
Strengths:
~ Competent. Rowan is very good at what anee does.
~ Prepared. Rowan tends to give off the impression of being prepared for any eventuality. Anee's not, but anee certainly does aniz best to be.
~ Calm. It takes a lot to get ani flustered, and even if anee's freaking out inside, aniz going to aim not to show it.
~Intelligent. Rowan's very bright and is quite capable of holding aniz own in the intellectual arena.

~ Gender. Rowan doesn't usually view it as such, but the world around ani isn't necessarily friendly.
~ Mispronouning. If Rowan's dressed up as a woman, anee finds it rather upsetting to be thought of as a man. Anee won't necessarily show it, but anee's likely going to have a bit of a sob when anee gets home.

~ Loneliness. Rowan isn't actually close to many people. Anee spends most of aniz downtime reading, writing or working on aniz crafts.
History:
Rowan was born Jacob Adam Archland, to a pair of parents who were quite similar to what anee would become. Calm, cool and not necessarily good with children. Anee was the youngest of three children, and aniz sisters were several years older then anee was.
Anee knew from an early age that aniz body... wasn't quite right. Anee could never pinpoint what exactly was wrong, beyond the face that anee didn't feel like either gender quite fit. Anee wanted to wear the pretty dresses anee saw, as well as the boy's clothes aniz parents put ani in.
At the age of twelve, Rowan announced that anee wasn't either gender. That anee was going to change aniz name to something more gender neutral and that anee'd come up with a set of pronouns that anee'd appreciate if they used. Aniz family reacted... badly. They put ani in therapy, tried everything they could to try and make ani fit back into the box they decided anee fit in.
And Rowan resisted. Anee went to high school as aniself. Anee alternated between dresses and skirts and pants and dress shirts. Anee insisted that aniz teachers call ani 'Rowan' and did aniz best to get them to use aniz pronouns. It didn't exactly work, but it made ani feel better about aniself. Right up until some people decided that they didn't approve. Rowan spent a month in the hospital, and the next year recovering.
And scared, Rowan went back into the gender closet. Anee went back to being 'Jake' and abandoning both aniz pronouns and aniz suits and dresses. Anee tried to be normal, pretend that everything fit.
And then, when Rowan was seventeen, anee went to college. And anee decided that the fear wasn't worth denying who anee really was. Anee legally changed aniz name at the age of 18, and spent aniz time in college putting on and taking off 'man' and 'woman' and 'neither' as anee saw fit.
Fresh out of college, and newly hired as a secretary (And once again regularly appearing as a man, but free to wear aniz dresses at home and out and about) anee contracted Versi. After spending a week sick in bed, anee returned to work. Rowan was certain anee was fine. Right up until the first time anee turned into a civet in the office.
Anee was promoted not long after that, working for the president of the company, a fellow Versi infected and promptly took over a large chunk of running the company. Aniz boss certainly didn't mind. Comfortable with aniz job, and in the prime of aniz life, Rowan set out to see if anee could find some companions.

Even when aniz nails are short they're quite sharp and anee's found aniself much happier in trees then anee used to be. Aniz eyes are also much darker then they used to be, appearing close to black most of the time, as aniz irises have darkened and aniz pupils can get much bigger then they used to.
