Gender: Female
Sexuality: Heterosexual
Job: Allowance and part time waitressing
Degrees/Permits: Drivers License, Permit to carry a concealed weapon
Languages Spoken: English with a smattering of Italian.
Human or shifter: human
Appearance: PB: Sarah Bolger
Avery's most notable features are her hazel eyes that border on being blue and her slightly square shaped jaw. She get's dimples when she smiles and her hair is currently past shoulder length with wavy curls in it. I say currently because she tends to change it often... Right now it's also a honey blonde with blue and black tips. Shape wise she borders between hourglass and banana in that yes, her waist is smaller than her bust and hips but not as much as your typical hourglass lady. With size B cups she knows her bust isn't anything spectacular but after hearing some horror stories of girls with back pain she's pretty much happy with how she's shaped. Height wise she stands at five foot five with a medium bone mass that has her weighting in normally between 140 to 145 pounds depending on if she's been active and or indulging in sweets. Her eyebrows have a tendency to grow in thick and she is careful to take the time to pluck them to a sleek but not super thin level.
Personality:
Avery is a mix of outgoing and reserved. She enjoys doing some group things like karaoke and kickball but only recreationally since she doesn't do well if pressured to win. For her alone times she likes to read and doodle what she considers bad poetry and bad art. She has a tendency to be slightly paranoid; especially if she thinks someone is staring at her. When it comes to love interests she gets insecure and shy, sometimes to the point of stammering or stuttering. She also tends to become stubborn to the point of being bullheaded when it comes to getting her way on something that she feels passionately about. Around older folks like her grandfather she is respectable and polite while around people her own age she lets loose; sometimes to the point of extremes. she also enjoys being affectionate with her friends so long as she knows they know she's really just being a tease.
Strengths:
Avery is good at listening to others. She knows how to be quiet inside so that she can focus on the talker rather than on her own internal dialog and this can sometimes make others feel like she's an intuitive or compassionate person. She tries not to fight out of a fear of becoming like her father but if someone is teasing, tormenting or picking on her friends she becomes quite protective of them and defends them; even if it means the teasing then shifts to her.
Weaknesses:
being called trailer trash or any variant of that sets off her temper and will usually have her fists flinging as well. She had a small shoplifting problem though so far she's been lucky in not getting caught. She's also prone to stereotyping negatively towards people that remind her of her father; be in in appearance or just a general vibe of male dominance.
History:
Avery was born to an Italian American mother and a father who can best be described as the worst kind of redneck rebel. She has a brother named Derek who is four years older than her and she had a little sister that was born a few months before her seventh birthday. Her brother was protective of both of them, often taking a punch or slap meant for them and then getting hit again for interfering.
Did I mention Avery's father is a sadistic drunken... well, I could go on but I'll skip the name calling for now. Her mother worked two jobs; During the day she was a data entry person which requires typing and in the evenings she worked as a waitress at Hooters. Her father will usually wake up between ten and noon; go fishing or hunting and come home between five and six drunk. Sometimes he'll manage to bring home some food but more often than not Derek ends up making a sandwich or something for his siblings.
Growing up in a trailer park the home Avery knew was dingy, dirty and smelled like old cigarette smoke. She had to wear hand me down clothes and quickly learned that if she had any treasured possessions she'd have to keep them hidden from her father. Her mother tried to provide a clean house, tried to protect them from their father but between two jobs and three kids she was exhausted most of the time with a defeated look in her eyes.
She probably would have ended up in jail for killing her father if she'd had to keep living there but five years ago, everything changed. Shortly before the Versi pandemic broke out her brother Derek ran away from home at the age of sixteen. Before he left he did one last thing to help protect his siblings. He gave Avery a handgun and told her that if their father ever tried to touch them again she should shoot him.
Everything went downhill from there.
Her sister and mother had been coughing, sneezing, and just generally feeling ill for several days. Avery had stayed home from school to help care for them. Her sister and mother were getting better at about the same rate, only her sister was a little quicker at healing. However, as she sat on the couch watching cartoons feeling better her dad started banging around outside and startled her. At which point Avery's sister changed into a Southern Torrent Salamander. Of course, this completely freaked out Avery and her father coming inside moments later was met by a hysterical twelve year old girl holding a salamander in her hands and babbling some nonsense about how it was her sister. He slapped Avery and she ran to her mothers bedroom, still upset and crying. Her mother had been getting better as well and as her father stomped into the bedroom looking mean and talking about having to discipline their daughters their mother lost it. All the rage, the pain, the humiliation of being an abused wife broke loose as she transformed into a lion and attacked her husband; yelling for Avery to get out, go to the neighbors. She did and later that night her mother packed them in the car and fled, driving to Florida to leave the girls with her father while she became a fugitive despite the fact that it would probably have been ruled as self defense.
With her older brother and mother gone off to who knows where, her father dead and her little sister clinging tightly to her hand Avery faced a new life in Florida. It took a bit of legal finesse on her grandfathers part but in the end, he was appointed legal guardian of her and her sister and at the age of fourteen they moved from Pensacola to Miami for a fresh start.
She's been here ever since and still wonders about several things.
Where was her brother now? Had he shifted like her mother or not like her and her father? Why hadn't she shifted... hadn't even gotten sick? Were she and her sister being a burden on her grandfather? Was her little sister scarred for life from the event? So many questions that she didn't think she'd ever get the answers to.
